I am interested in the accuracy of slow speed readings, from .5-2mph are there some units better than others, I prefer garmin 450 or 62S but have resevations if handheld units will covey this accurately

Hello Russell,

Recreational GPS units will all be about the same. To get better accuracy in slow speeds you may want to use an inertial system in conjunction with the GPS. Sorry but I don't have a Inertial system recommendation at this time.

What is your application? Maybe there is a device suitable for what you are doing.

I would suggest the 62S because of the better antenna. It will be more sensitive.

Cheers

Hello Russell,

Thank you for Getting back so quickly. Based on your use I assume you need to troll at a specific speed for a stand alone fishfinder. Getting a unit with Inertial would be too expensive for your use. I would suggest the GPSMap 62S. After some more research the speed accuracy is better in the 62S. I am unsure by how much at this time.
