Can this unit be purchased in Canada with the 5 watt capability or do I have to get one in the US like I did with my 520's and 530's?

Hello Bill,

The 5 watt version is only legal to use and purchase in the USA. The rules will change in 2014. Then they will be legal to buy and use in canada. Hope this helps

I am not a Canadian attorney and cannot speak to OWNING a 655t in Canada. However, with regards to USING it (within legal power limits), note that the power level is settable in the normal radio setup menu. I'm in the USA and have the previous (530hcx) version. Personally, if I were to travel into Canada with my unit, I would set the power to 2 wats to respect Canadian limits.
