Should I drill a hole?

I was matching up the magnetic sticker on the Ram Power Plate with the bottom of my Escort 9500ix radar detector. I note that when I put the sticker on, it will cover up one of the three screw holes to open up the radar detector.

On the off chance that I have to send the radar detector back to Escort for service some day, I was thinking of drilling a hole into the sticker before mounting it on the radar detector, so that the sticker won't have to be torn off the unit should Escort need to open it.

What do you think? Good idea? I'm assuming the sticker is meant to be permanent and can't be removed without leaving a sticky mess.

Would I need a special drill bit to make a hole in the sticker, or will any drill bit work? I'm assuming the sticker is made of somewhat dense metal and may destroy a regular drill bit.

Also, if I happen to accidentally destroy the sticker with my drilling project, are replacement stickers easily available?

Many Thanks!

The metal plate is available as a replacement part.

The adhesive tape could also be replaced with double sided carpet tape or similar product available at any hardware store in the event that the plate should be removed and replaced.
