I'm wondering what the maximum weight one of these mounts is rated to support. I'd like to ceiling mount a monitor that weighs about 18-20 lbs, will this do the trick?

The RAM Mount VESA 75mm Plate on Long Arm 1.5 inch Mount uses the 1.5" ball.
The RAM 1.5" ball mounts are rated up to 10 pounds.
The 2.25" ball mounts are rated from 10 to 15 pounds.
At 18-20 pounds, the monitor will be exceeding the recommended weight limit for even the RAM-D 2.25" ball mounts.
The RAM Mount VESA Plate Surface Mount RAM-E-101U-246 would be recommended for your application.
