Already have the USWest topo 24k installed on my wife's GPSMAP 60csx, but it does not support navigating to an address - that seems to require the City Navigator. Can both packages be installed on the same GPS (I would assume you could switch between which one you were using) ? The 24k topo is great for what we use it for, but you get a pop-up telling you that you have to have city navigator to be able to go-to an address (which she wants). I'm not sure what size micro-sd card she has in it right now although there is one in there - I could get a larger one if that is needed.

If you have both map softwares on a DVD you can load one card with both types of maps. The max card that is supported on the Garmin GPSMap 60CSx is 4GB

Thanks Jordan - from what I found on another site you might want to check out for the 60CSx folks called best 60CSX tips on , he seems to indicate that you can use a larger card, although the map is limited to 4 gigs (and 2024 tiles) even with the latest 4.00 firmware. One thing I was hoping for that my old Magellan had was the ability to select from the card menu a different map on the card (multiple map images). It looks like Garmin never put this in their firmware and it can only use the file called gmapsupp.img on the card (if you have multiple images on the card, you have to rename them in the computer so the gps uses the one you want).

You can choose different images on the 60CSX. All the map tiles are listed in the map settings on the unit. The new program MapInstall will name each image set with a different name. Only Mapsource will load it as one image file. Still even though it is one image you can still turn individual maps on and off. On the 60CSX it is a pain to turn certain maps off to see others. You will be better off loading multiple cards in that case. For the cost it is better to buy a low end nuvi for street navigation. Most come with lifetime map updates now. A unit we have on sale is the nuvi 1490LMT.

OK, thanks - I noticed that on my 62sc (purchased from you) that the topo 24k consists of two "img" files (as loaded by the topo software and named basically "topo...west.img" and "topo...west.img" - both listed as "active"). I was aware of the Nuvi etc, however, when I mentioned it to my wife, she said she would rather have the street nav software added on her current gps (normally used for hiking etc.)

Well duh - the above should have said named basically "topo...west.img" and "topo...west 2.img" - both listed as "active" - the names of the two files are different, not identical as I had posted. Sorry to mislead anyone else reading this into thinking they both had the same name.
