I understand that if Mapsource is installed, downloading updates with nuMaps Lifetime will update the Mapsource maps. Does anyone know if maps in RoadTrip on a Mac would be updated?

Hello there
Roadtrip should automaticly look for a update every time it boots up. if not there is a manual download from garmin's support site.

I know that Roadtrip will update but my question was whether maps (e.g., CNNA NT) will update if one has Garmin nuMaps Lifetime.

Thks

Hello, Sorry for misunderstanding your question. The NuMap updates have to be downloaded from your account with Garmin. Garmin is emailing customers when the update is available if you have a numap subscription. Once downloaded it does need to be installed. So the Mapsource, roadtrip and basecamp software update independently of the maps. If you don't receive an email from Garmin just visit your account that was created at registration to see if you have a numap download available for your unit.
cheers

Hi Jordan,

I must not be very clear in my question. I'll try and put it another way.

I am not wondering about updates of Mapsource/Roadtrip themselves but of their maps.

When I download map updates using nuMaps Lifetime, I know the updates will be for my GPS but will maps already installed on my computer and available in Mapsource or Roadtrip be updated as well? In other words, if I purchase for example, the CNNA NT DVD and install the maps on my computer for uploading to my GPS, when updates become available with nuMaps Lifetime will they be updated on my computer?

With NuMaps you will get an email from Garmin telling there is an update available. Then you go to the Garmin site and Download the update file. Once the file is downloaded you install it on your PC. Now in your various Garmin software you will have a newer version of maps to choose from along with your older maps. Unfortunately it is not an automatic update like Operating systems. You will have to fetch and install the files manually for now.

Hi Jordan,

I just received my nuvi1350 ordered from you guys last week. When I registered it, there was a map update available (CNNA 2010.20) because of the nuMaps Guarantee. When I downloaded the update, it would install on my GPS but not update the CNNA 2010.10 in Mapsource or Roadtrip. If this one time update works the same as nuMaps Lifetime, then I don't understand how the maps installed on the computer will update. It seems only those installed on the GPS will be updatable.

When you update the maps in a GPS unit it will only update the maps built in and not any maps on the PC or MAC.

If you purchased the maps on DVD for your PC then you can get a nuMaps update for those maps. The updates would be separate between the Nuvi and the maps purchased on DVD.
