I have a quest that I bought a number of years ago which came with mapsource. I just bought a Nuvi 550 from you, and it is not clear that the mapsource is compatable. Do I need to buy a new mapsource? Can I get an upgrade?

Hi Rob,
The Mapsource program is compatible with the Nuvi 550, for transferring tracks, routes and waypoints. The maps for the Nuvi 550 are different (City Navigator NT) than the ones that come with the Quest (City Navigator).
Thanks!

Rob, I think you're confusing maps with Mapsource. Mapsource is free software from Garmin which you load on your PC (for an iMac it would be Basecamp). Mapsource allows you to create waypoints, routes tracks etc. on your PC then upload them to your GPS (assuming your GPS has that capability). Mapsource is often (always?) included on the DVD containing a map product which you buy for your GPS, though you can download free updates to Mapsource (not the maps themselves!) from Garmin's website.
