I have a nuvi 1390 with preloaded Aus and NZ city navigator NT 2010.20. If I purchase NT 2011 in CD version (010-11388-00) will the new version update the existing maps on the 1390 when I load it onto laptop with 1390 connected? Or do I need to select maps using Map source and transfer? If the later does the transfer update or over write existing maps on 1390 or does it add another version. I already have US and Europe CDs and have uploaded maps to 1390 with SD card inserted.

Hi Alan,
Instead of purchasing the full version DVD software, you could purchase just the updates. A One Time Update http://www.gpscity.com/garmin-numaps-update-city-navigator-nt-2011-australia-and-new-zealand.html or the Life Time Update http://www.gpscity.com/garmin-numaps-australia-and-new-zealand-lifetime-updates.html are both available for your GPS.

Thanks -- the update versions require you to have the earlier version pre-loaded to Map Source on the computer and on the device. I have the earlier version on Nuvi but not on Map Source. I need to get map source version for use on computer but still need to know if this will update nuvi

Hi Alan,
With the new version of Garmin's Basecamp users can now view the maps from the GPS's internal memory on the computer. This being said, you could update your GPS with the aforementioned updates, and then use the GPS to preplan routes and view the maps on your computer.
