Any reason why my SD card map would stop working ?
One day I turned my GPS on and it says "unable to unlock map" . I haven't done anything I know of that could have altered the SD card. Garmin says it's a problem with the card.

Did you load other mapping on it from your Computer? That would cause an error. Have you copied the maps from one SD card to another? That would also give you the error you see.

Thanks for the reply. How many files are we supposed to have on the original card ?
Does the lock "slide" of the card have to be on locked ? I have moved files to another card when the problem occurred but I kept the original.

The lock will not cause an error for the mapping. Lock prevents you from writing to the card but not reading from it. Should always be in the unlock position.

It sounds like you are not using the original Garmin card that is why you are getting the error. Have you tried the original card you copied the files from? That one should work because the maps are unlocked to it. I am not sure of the exact number of files on the card. Should be a minimum of two. An unlock file and a map file.

The reason I copied the files to a new card is because the original one didn't work. The problem started with the original micro SD. The only thing I see though is that I have 3 files. I will try to remove one, I might have added a file unintentionally.
Thanks !

Adding another file should not cause bad problems. The key is that you can only use the maps on the original card. If you are like me I have 15 on my desk. They are so small with no identification markings so it is hard to tell which is which. (micro sd that is)
