I'm looking at purchasing the Garmin Topo 100K DVD. How much memory will the state of Tennessee take up of the 24 MB available? Does the Topo 100K come with base camp? Can you turn off features of the map, such as city streets and add more area of a state or states when downloading to the GPS? I'm mainly using this for hunting and don't need city information.

You will be able to load approximately half of Tennessee on the Garmin Venture HC's 24MB of internal memory.

Unfortunately you can't reduce the amount of POIs, streets or other details on the map. Once the map is loaded you can choose to see less detail, but it will all be there loaded into the memory.

Basecamp does come with the Topo US 100K software.

If this is a recently purchased unit we would like to suggest possibly returning it and purchasing a unit like the Garmin Vista HCX which has expandable memory.
