Before these maps needed Base Camp or the Topo Canada program to use with garmin and computer, the price has jumped or is it because it is all of Ontario. At this price is it just plug and play

This is a special mapping for backcountry information made by a third party company. The Garmin maps for all of Canada are still available on DVD or SD card at a lower cost. Maps on SD are plug and play in the unit. You will still want to download Basecamp to Manage your data.
