What is the scale of maps for NL? How do the maps compare to government issue topo maps? Do you have a screen shot that I can view?

Hello Seadog,

The scale of the Garmin Canadian Topo maps is the same as the government maps. 1:50,000 for most of Canada with some areas at 1:250,000 . The territories are usually the areas with lower scale mapping. The data in the maps comes from the government, so the Topography and back-country data is almost the same. Garmin did strip some Data they thought was not needed to save mapping memory. The road layer in the Topo maps is better than what you see on the Canadian Gov Topo Maps.

Cheers
Jordan

Are you sure about this, any info that I have seen (for Canada) says the topos are comprised of 1:250,000 maps with only small sections being comprised of 1:50,000. Newfoundland has 90% 1:250,000 scale mapping.
