Thanks for the previous answer. I received the topo canada map with base camp dvd today. I installed it and when I opened it for the first time it tells me the map is a year old and needs an update before using. It gives me an install button, but just takes me to a page to purchase maps. I was kind of hoping i was getting the newest map. I hope I don't have to pay for an update. Also base camp is version 2.0 beta and tells me I also have to update this. I get an install button and something downloads but it does not update or change the version of base camp. When I restart base camp it gives me the same window saying I need to update. Not sure what is going on.

I figured out the update for base camp and it is working now, but my question remains about the update for the topo canada map that says it requires an update because it is of date. Where do I find the update? Thanks

Garmin topo maps are not up-datable. They only come out with a new Topo map software every few years. I dont forsee another version for around three to five years.

The better map for your area is.

They update trails and such on the map often and have a free map update program.

Thanks Jordan. I am playing around with installing topo to my lengend HXC so I may have a couple more questions. I take it that it is probably best to just use map installer to load an area of the region I will be using at any specific time and not loading the whole thing at once.

Yes we do recommend loading portions of the map, as opposed to the full map.
