I know people have asked similar questions but it is still not clear for me.
What is the difference between the Topo 100k Canada and the Birdseye topo? I will be purchasing either a 62s or 62st and want to know if the 62s with birdseye topo would be different/better then the 62st with the Topo 100k.
Would it be worthwhile to have both? Why? Which is better?
Thanks,

Jordan

The topo maps for Canada are 1:50,000 scale. The difference is the Birdseye Topo are paper maps scanned and geo-refferenced (RASTER) so that they load into the unit. They do not look as good as the 1:50K topo maps on DVD. The maps on DVD are vector so they view better when you zoom in and out. There is also more searchable data on the Vector maps

The best maps for your use are the Backroad Alberta GPS maps.

It is not recommended to buy Topo maps preloaded in a handheld GPS for they tend to be older that what you can get on DVD or SD card. I would recommend the GPSMap 62S with backroads Alberta or Garmin Topo Canada DVD.
