How to view maps on BaseCamp?

I put the microSD Card in my Oregon 450 and can view the TOPO Northern England Maps no problem on my device. However, when I connect my device to my computer and open up BaseCamp, this TOPO map product is not offered as a viewing option. I also can't figure out how to install this map product on my computer as I have with my other TOPO products and City Navigator products. I have a big trip coming and wnat to program the waypints, etc using my computer but can't figure out how to make it work with this map product.

First you will need to make sure both Basecamp and your GPS unit are up to date. You can update your GPS unit with a free program called WebUpdater. You will also find an update to Basecamp on Garmins site.

Once that is done the maps on micro SD card will be read by the computer via usb while the card is in the unit. Basecamp should automatically recognize the maps on the card and start to load them. This may work via a regular card reader also. It will take a little while for the maps to load. You should see a progress indicator in the top left of the program to verify they are loading. You may need to select the maps from the menu bar to see them instead of the base map once the process is done.

Unfortunately the maps are locked to the card and can not be installed on the computer. As long as the memory card is connected to the computer it should be able to read the map.

Both Basecamp and my GPS unit are, in fact, up to date. When my GPS is connected via USB to my computer Basemap will simply NOT recognize the TOPO Northern UK maps (and yes the micro SD card is properly inserted in my device: the device displays the maps no problem). What Basemap does recognize when I connect my device to the computer with this micro SD card is something called "Worldwide Autoroute DEM basemap,NR". But no TOPO Northern England. I have also tried a card reader and have the same result.

you mentioned you have City Navigator also. Does that show up in basecamp?

I am having the same problem in Basecamp. It is reading my device no problem, picking up all my waypoints from the internal memory but won't display the map from the external micro SD card
