I have a Colorado 300 and was considering purchase of Backroad Maps Ontario. Under compatible unit information, it states the Colorado Series will have no reference information.
Can you clarify what this means. Would you still recommend purchasing this product for the older GPS unit?

In older units there will be limited or no POI's and writeups on different geographic features. You will be able to see the map but search for data on the unit will be limited.

From the Product writeup it appears I can use TOPO Canada to its full potential. Would this be better suited to my Colorado 300? I don't need every back road or the additional elevation lines. Will it allow me to perform searches?

If you would like to be able to search points then the Garmin software will be better for you

Using the Backroad GPS maps on an eTrex Legend HCx will display the names of lakes, rivers, roads, and trails but will not display the additional access write up information.
Upgrading to a newer Garmin GPS would be recommended to get the full benefits of the Backroad GPS maps.
