We were told from a supplier that the gen.2 unit would have an available 12v power supply. Is this true? or do we need to continue using AA batteries?

Hello Henry -

The SPOT 2 not be using an external power source. The SPOT 2 will be powered by three AAA batteries. I have provided you with two links. The first is the official specification sheet for this unit, and the second is our product page for the SPOT 2. Please click on the links for more information.
