I have a Garmin 60CSx handheld GPS with the Mapsource Topo Canada maps installed. The maps were loaded onto my computer from a CD and then a regional selection of maps downloaded onto a blank microSD card in my GPS.

I can load tracks from hikes into the computer Mapsource map, saving my sweat for posterity as it were. I can re-use these tracks by downloading sub-500 point versions from the computer to the GPS.

Can I do something similar to all of this with the HXCA015R BlueChart g2 for Canada?

From some of your older responses to questions, it does not appear that I can load the marine charts into the computer and then load a regional selection of locally relevant maps onto a blank MicroSD card in the GPS.

If I have to use the marine charts MicroSD card provided by Garmin in my GPS, where does this leave me as far as transferring tracks from the GPS to my computer and viewing them on the computer? Does the GPS have to remain connected to the computer to see the map and tracks on the computer? Can tracks be stored and downloaded back to the GPS for future use?

Thanks
Reed

You need to buy Homeport in order to view Marine charts on the PC. You can still upload and download your data using Mapsource.
