Only Garmin maps will work on a Garmin device. What you will want is Inland lakes DVD or SD card for the USA.

Blue Charts is for Coastal areas and Inland lakes will cover lakes that are not coastal. Great Lakes are in Bluecharts.

Are the Great Lakes on the Inland Lakes Vision? So it sounds like I need both cards if I want to fish the Great Lakes & inland lakes. Is this correct? Or should I get the Inland Lakes sd card for the USA. I am looking for advice. I fish both inland lakes & the Great Lakes. Thanks

Thank you for the extra data. If you require detailed charts for Navigation then you will need Bluecharts for the Great lakes. I would not recommend Visions unless you will have a unit and will need the 3d underwater view. The recommend card if you can not take advantage of Vision charts is the HXCA039R bluechart card.

If all you do is fishing, the inland lakes map car/DVD is all you need. It has data for the Great lakes but not as much navigational aids. It geared more towards fishing.

What unit would I have to have in order to use the 3d underwater view? I do use the cards for fishing for the most part, so I guess you would recommend the inland lakes card, is that correct. What is the advantage of having the HXCA039R card? Thanks

HXCA039 card will have fishing and navigation aids where inland lake has limited Navigation aids for the great lakes.

You will need to buy a unit that supports Vision technology. One of the starting models would be the GPSMap 421S.
