Hi there,
I'm just wondering how this unit-to-unit transfer works. What I am looking for are GPS units that can relate to others in the area. I'm often doing fieldwork in convoluted wetlands, and currently rely on the yelling method for finding coworkers locations. What I'm hoping this unit does is send waypoints to the other units which can then be viewed on the screen in order to direct me towards them.

On another note: For the ability to upload maps, would that include aerial images or orthophotos?

Thanks

By the sounds of your explanation an Etrex30 is not what you need. The wireless transfer is only good for around 6 feet. What you want is a Garmin rino 600 or 650 which will automatically transmit position data back and forth when you key the Radio. It will be good for many Kilometers line of sight. You can talk to them also because the technology is based on FRS and GMRS radio tech
