Hello Ron,

The 17x HVS may work with your speedometer but it is NMEA 2000 and your receiver needs NMEA 0183. I would recommend you purchase the one made by Livorsi to ensure that is configured correctly.

Cheers
Jordan

When I look at the specifications it states the output is NEMA 0183, I also want to use it on the Livorsi speedmeter.

Can you confirm what the output is? I see someone recently used it for a Livorsi speedometer.

Hello Ron,

The signals sent down the 17XHVS wires are serial. In other words yes you can easily shorten it up.

Cheers

Hello

The can be many problems. Sounds like the the unit is freezing when you get to 20Mph. The unit could be faulty or there may be a lot of engine noise in the power lines causing the unit to freeze. That may not be your problem. Try checking all your connections and maybe moving the GPS antenna to a different location. Move the wires so they are not in parallel with other lines. Also check the voltage of the power when you are boating. Is there any drops in the voltage while boating?

What GPS do you use? Is it updated? Can it be tested with a laptop or another device? You may want to contact the manufacturer who will have a little more experience with the problems of your device.

Cheers

I have a Raytheon Electronics (Ray Marine) RayChart630 display with a Raystar112GPS and a D-BeaconRX antenna. The Raystar112GPS got wet during the hurrican and was wondering if the 17x HVS HMEA 0183 would work as a replacement? Do I need the "Y" cable and the Differential Beacon Reciever?

As long as you have the NMEA 0183 version of the Raystar112GPS then yes it will work. You will have to do your own custom wiring. The 17xHVS comes with bare wires at the connection end.
