I currently have a GPSMarp 60CSX. I bought it with high hopes of learning how to use it but it kinda remained in my drawer because no one could ever show me how to use the thing. I used it twice in the 3 years I had it.

Now I want to give it another go hoping other out there might know this technology by now.

Are the features on the newer models that much better that I should get a new one? Which model replaces the 60CSX (I want to trail hike and am planning to go to Europe)? And what is a good source to learn the product? Please don't say Mountain Equipment Co-op or other sports store staff. They don't make enough money to afford the unit and hence have never learned it. The cost isn't relevant to me. Learning and enjoyment of the unit is. PS I live in Calgary, Alberta

Thanks

The Garmin GPSMap 60csx is a great unit and is considered one of Garmins best. Going into a newer unit will get you a slightly easier to use interface, more mapping features and more. The GPSMap 62S replaces the Garmin GPSMap 60CSx. The Montana 650 may be of interest to you also. The Montana may be a little better for your Europe trip, it can act like a nuvi car navigator. Your current unit and the newer handhelds will all do what you listed in the post.

The best place to learn the products is by watching our many videos on the GPS units. Just click on the videos tab on a product page. If you don't find what you are looking for check our youtube page for additional videos. Geocaching is a great place to start to learn your GPS and how to use it.
