Am trying to update maps on my Garmin 1390. Get message saying "this device does not have enough memory for Canada & US maps'. It obviously contains these maps now, why would it not have enough memory to update them?

The Garmin nuvi 1390 at one time was able to hold all maps on the internal memory. But with all the extra map data that is provided the memory is now insufficient. You can load the maps to a memory card and place it in the unit. Be sure to select the option to save the maps to your PC/Mac when downloading the map. It is an option in the Garmin Lifetime map updater software. Then you can use Garmin MapInstall to load the maps to the memory card in the unit.

When we bought the unit, it came with lifetime updates and now it seems we have to purchase a memory card in order to take advantage of lifetime updates. I think Garmin should be supplying the memory card. We went to a higher priced unit in order to have the updates.... and now still have to pay for the card. How much is that going to cost us?

The data cards are quite inexpensive, we carry a 2GB card for $8.95. http://www.gpscity.comink>/daneelec-2gb-microsd-data-card-with-sd-adapter.htmlhttp://www.gpscity.com
