Are there performance differences between the GPS City Super Grip Dashboard Friction Mount Base and the Garmin Nuvi and Zumo Series Portable Friction Mount? Intuitively, I have a preference for the GPS City unit when dealing 7.2 ounces Garmin unit, in terms of stability.

Thank you,

The Garmin friction mount will fit the curves of a dash better than the GPS City version.

Thank you Jordan for your answer,

Is there an advantage for either units in terms of durability of the friction pad?

I'm about to buy a 3590 and I don't want to make the bad choice for the dash mount. I don't want to damage my new GPS!

Thank you,

It comes down to driving habits. If you drive normal the dash mount should hold fine. Extreme cornering or braking can cause it to fly off the dash. Every vehicle is different and I can not say which one will work better for your vehicle dash. I prefer the Garmin flexible dash mount. You can make it fit a curved dash better.
