I purchaased the 3590LMT from you earlier this year, and am looking to add some topo maps that Grmin offers on Micro SD cards. However, when I look at Garmin's website, they do not show the 3590LMT under the "Compatible Devices" when I look at the maps. Are they compatible?

Thanks.

I also called Garmin tech support regarding my question. After 25 minutes on hold, the person who answered looked up the information on his computer, and just parroted back what Garmin's website says. I asked why the 3590LMT would accept the topo maps for Australia and New Zealand, but not the U.S., and his reply was "that must be how the engineers designed it". Really? How about Garmin's customer service actually take the time to check with someone who knows what they're talking about, rather than reading from the company website?

Anyone have a real-world answer?

Thanks.

You should not use a nuvi for hiking but for driving in the backcountry the topo maps for the USA will work on it. I have tested and you will see the maps on the map screen. You may not be able to see everything on the map screen as compared to a handheld GPS made for topo maps

Thanks Jordan. Yes, I would only be using the Nuvi/topo combination for driving to remote locations on fire roads and dirt roads, and for situational awareness in those areas. For hiking, I use a Delorme PN-60W SE.

Thank you for taking the time to verify the functionality, rather than giving me a Garmin-type response "that must be how the engineers designed it".
