I bought my 1490LMT from GPSCity 2 years ago and this year the unit shut off and reboot every 10 to 15 minutes on the road. It is now useless. I contacted Garmin technical support and they said the unit has to be replace.

Do you know what can cause this issue and can it be fix?

Buying another unit after only a few months (I do not use it during the winter)is not what I call "reliability".

Unless GPSCity can help and exchange this unit and I would buy a 2nd one for my motorcycle!!!!

I forgot to tell that I did all updates with WebUpdater and I even did a master reset of the device twice.

If you purchased an extended warranty we can have the unit replaced for you as long as the ext warranty is still valid.

If you did not buy an extended warranty then you will need to consider a newer unit. If you need one for the bike I suggest the zumo series. The nuvi series is not meant for a motorcycle and should only be used in a car. the nuvi is not made to handle the elements or vibration like the zumo series.

Thanks for your reply Jordan. Unfortunately, I did not purchased the extended warranty. But I think i've found the problem. The power cable was defective. Maybe a bad connection in the pins or a cutted wire inside the cable. Tried the device on battery power,(never used my gps on battery power before) worked fine. Tried with another power cable and worked fine three days in a row.
I do not understand why Garmin tech support did not suggested me to, at least, try another power cable before telling me that my unit was to be replaced.
