Does v.8 of Blue Chart Americas on cd work for Garmin 640?

I have v.8 of Blue Chart Americas on cd. Can I transfer the unlocked portion, (mostly lake ontario) to an sd card and will it work with the 640.
If not what is the solution. I will need the costal us charts too

Hello Jean,

The maps you have are unlocked to a unit already and can not be transferred to a newer unit. Unfortunately this unit is not made for the older bluecharts. You will need Bluecharts G2 for your area. Garmin has an affordable card that covers all of Canada. Here is the link.
