Does it have Canadian and US maps. And does it have voice instruction like other GPS units

This is only a sensor and has no software or maps included. It is to be used with moving map software you already have or plan to buy for your Tablet, phone or computer

I have an iPad 2 which has a map app . Will it work with a map app? What is a good map app?

This device takes over the internal positioning of the iPad so it will work with all apps. I do not have a recommendation for iPad software. I suggest searching the iTunes store and reading the reviews.
