How to use with Trip Planner and searching the routes?

OTR truck driver - just upgraded to 3590LMT from Nuvi 755. (I don't need truck specific routing & liked more features on the 3590 then the DEZL, etc.) I DO rely heavily on custom routes. I understand they are called trips now. I have created a route (trip) using Trip Planner in apps. I don't care for the fact that the points I've chosen to make it follow the roads I need are now destinations, but I can get over it. I also don't like that when I browse the map it only shows the route up to the next "stop." I can live with that, too. But I'm not sure I can work around this one...
When searching "near current route", it only searches up until the next "destination". I need to search fuel stops (which I have loaded as POIs) hundreds of miles out, not just the trip's current segment. Any suggestions? I never imagined this would be an issue!! The manual is useless, so even if I had the foresight to check for details like this before purchasing, this information isn't readily available anywhere. Help please! Thanks!

Re: Browsing the route on the map. Have you tried telling the unit to navigate the route. When it goes to the map screen you can use your finger to browse the whole route without looking at it turn by turn. You can then go back into the trip planner and edit the route if needed.

Re: Search Points along the route. Instead of searching points along your route try changing the search reference to a point in your route. The unit will search around that point.

As you navigate your route you will be able search along the next leg as you pass the preceding via point. Also when searching try choosing only your poi database. You may know the one you want to go to and find it quicker that way.

Thanks for the suggestions, Jordan. So disappointing that such an easy feature was left out. I'll be returning it. Do all the new Garmins use this Trip Planner software?? Thanks, M
