Does the 60CX come with preloaded topograpical maps that show orv trails and snowmobile trails? With the 60CX can I do a "go to" where it will take me to a destination by trails and then roads where necessary? Does the 60CX have turn by turn? I am mainly interested in this for dirt biking. Thanks

All maps for this unit have to be purchased separate. The best maps for what you mentioned is Backroads GPS maps Ontario.

The unit will do turn by turn prompts using City Navigator. I do not recommend handhelds for turn by turn navigation on paved roads because you can get a nuvi with those features and life time map updates for about the same price as buying the software for the 60CX. The 60CSX/60CX is a very good unit for dirt biking. You may want to consider the new version of it the GPSMap 62S

Jordan Referring to my original question you mentioned the best maps is Backroads GPS maps Ontario however I live in Michigan so what version do they make for Michigan that will show snowmobile trails and ORV trails as well as roads? I will be using it for dirt biking. Also I heard the 62 and other units only have a mini UBS plug for power where the 60cx has the serial plug that is waterproof and rugged. You mentioned nuvi with turn by turn or the or the new version GPSMap 62s. Feedback please on your ideas and why you make these other recommendations vs the 60cx.
I am new to GPS units for dirt bikes. You mentioned the 60cx is a very good unit for dirt bikes.
Thanks
Larry

I apologize about that. I just answered a question about Ontario and had it fresh on my mind still.

In the USA there is not a program that I know of with the type of detail backroads has in Canada, ie snowmobile trails ... You should be able to download the trail network from a local website to load into a compatible Garmin GPS unit. You would then use it in conjunction with Garmin topo maps. Wither the 100k or 24K version. You may see some more trails on the 24K version in your area.

You would not use the nuvi on the trails but in your car. you would use the handheld on the trails. If you are worried about the cable the GPSMap 78S is almost identical to the 62S but has the same power connection as the GPSMap 60CSX. We have hard wire cables that will be more water proof for use on the bike/snowmobile. All the handheld units are very good for dirt bikes, snowmobiles and such with the exception of the Montana. In high vibrations the Montana sometimes acts weird. I would suggest a newer unit like the 78S or 62S because you can do a lot more with them. The 60CSX is great and is preferred by professionals all over the world.
