I'm a petite person with a small chest. My old HRM strap broke and although I replaced the battery, the strap is too big. If I get a Garmin Dakota, I'd like to know the dimension of the strap.

This strap will most likely be to large too. You will be better off with the premium soft strap for it will contour to your body better. Also it will be easier to hem the strap to your body size. Both can be hemmed.

The lengths of the one you are looking at are

max length 35" (the elastic strap will stretch much further)
min length 27" (can be hemmed to be shorter)
Width 1"
