Which one is wise for a Canadian purchaser, for one time buyer,in a longer term, Garmin 3580 or 3590 and why? Costco sell 3580 for $299.It is important for me to have traffic alert and red light cameras, police raders.
thanks

Traffic alerts are not supported in the 2012 line of Garmin devices for North America. I suggest only buying the GPS unit from a company that can support you. Not just return the unit but sell you needed accessories and answer your questions. I personally would not recommend buying electronics from Costco if you can get them from a specialized dealer. The nuvi 3590LMT would be the smarter buy for you can get better support with the unit from GPS City, Garmin and other retailers.

Jordan why? I never had a problem when I bought from Costco: Do you have a 90 day return policy or a 2 year return policy if the item becomes defective? (which btw Costco has) NO questions asked? Or would your company make me deal directly with Garmin ?

Replacing or returning a unit is not full support for most issues are with a person not able to figure out how to do something on a unit. We will help with that and more.

We provide selection, all accessories, knowledgeable staff, product tutorial videos/articles, QnA forum for assistance, live chat, quick email support, GPS employee's answer the phones (not a third party call center) ... Why would you buy a GPS elsewhere? We put in a lot of effort to support the Garmin products and other lines we carry. That's why people who know of us consider us the best. Sometimes a problem with a unit is out of our control and only Garmin can assist in that case we will have to get you in contact with them. Such as unlock code problems with maps.

Links to our extended warranty (extra protection) program are found on every unit page. Just look blow the units price for more information.

If we flogged units on the market with no real support I would understand your comments. We would then be like the majority of our competitors. Unlike the rest we do a lot more.

Of course we are not perfect and have our flaws but we are working on them consistently.

Garmin 3580 has a different traffic receiver than the 3590. The 3580 has the old traffic receiver that updates a lot less often than the new HD one on the 3590. I was told the 3590 receiver wasn't compatible in Canada, but it's been working in Vancouver as long as I've had the unit (six months).
