Wondering which plotter to buy for my boat, is a 28' sailboat so a transom hung transducer wont work, transom is hi and dry. If i purchase a 536 without the transducer can i add transducer later and still have full functionality as in 536S model?
Which transducer should i use?Thru hull or can i get one that doesnt require me drilling a hole in the hull?
For sailing Lake Huron (inland waters) only, is the 536 and its onboard charts the best choice?
Can i purchase the Bluechart 2 vision card and Homeport to begin learning the charts now, or do i need the plotter first?
Thanks for any info you can give me.
Dale.

Teh 536 does not support a transducer as is because it lacks a sounding module. You will have to get the 536S. The 536S comes with out the transducer if you want or with it. But the unit must have the S name to do depth sounding or it is a GPS only.

The GPSMap 536S contains USA inland lakes only. The Great lakes are considered Coastal. It is best to get a GPSMap 526S and the maps separate on a memory card.

You can get a shot thru(in-hull)transducer that does not require drilling.
