I have 3 trips planned for this year. Can I just pay for the months I am on these separate these trips?

Does this work with IPad with out cell a plan?

The information on the coverage plans is located on the product descritpion page. You will be able to pay monthly. There is an activation fee each time you re-enable the plan for the inReach.

You can use it with a iPad without cell connection

Yes, you pay monthly, but you are committed to a twelve month minimum for the cheapest plan, a four month minimum for the more expensive plans.

You can activate your service and suspend it but each time there is an activation fee. The other option is to activate and pay $4 a month to stay active and only pay for the months you wish to use the sevice ie when you are traveling. This way is more cost effective.

Read the manufacturers info before you assume that you can sign up for less than a year:

I see nothing in the current pdf document that would allow you to sign up for only part of a year. The language says specifically that a one year commitment is required on all plans.

There are different subscription plans for different countries, Canadians would be subject to the terms of these plans www.inreachcanada.com/service-plans/. Whereas US, European and Australian customers have alternate plans available.
