Colorado/Oregon Vehicle power cable?

Garmin Colorado and Oregon Vehicle Power Cable

I have a vehicle power cable that I bought for my Colorado 300. I am now using it with my Oregon 450. The problem is it keeps flipping from powering my GPS to data mode. I have to unplug the mini USB from the GPS the GPS then will exit data mode and power off. Then I have to power up the GPS and plug in the mini USB back into the GPS. If I try just plugging the cable into the GPS without powering it off it will go into data mode. After doing all this it does not seem to power the GPS before flipping back into data mode.

Is this a problem with the GPS or power cable? I hate to buy another power cable just to find out it is a problem with the GPS.

If you have a Garmin cable you should not have an issue. If you are using a third party cable you will most likely have the problems you explained above. Here is a link to the Garmin cable.

If you have this exact cable (please check PN) then you may have a bad cable or unit.

Cheers
Jordan

It is a Garmin cable (part # 320-00239-22). I bought it from GPS City a couple of years back for my Colorado. Maybe it is the cable. I was having problems with my Colorado which is why I purchased the Oregon. I could not load data into it or power it with the cables I have. I was thinking it was the connector in the Colorado that was the problem because neither the power or data cable would work on it. The data cable from my Colorado does work on my Oregon.

By the way do you know anyone that repairs GPSs.

That PN doesn't register with our system. do you have the Garmin Part Number from the packaging?

That is the part number on sticker on the cable. It does not however match the part number when I check my GPS City order history. It was part of the following order from you

Order Date: May 19, 2008

Order Number: 2896-xxxx-xxxx

Anyhow I just recently purchased another cable from you. By the way thanks for the quick delivery I had it the next day. I think it has solved my problem. Although I have not gone bouncing down any bush roads yet. Thanks for your responses and great service. When anyone asks where to buy a GPS I always say GPS City.
