Hello Michel,

Unfortunately you will need maps made by Garmin or an authorized map provider. By the sounds of it trakMaps is not authorized by Garmin. I have seen this happen with other maps made by third party vendors. For more information you may want to contact the makers for Trakmaps in Quebec.

Cheers

Hello Michel,

When you do the update it locks the unauthorized maps out of the unit. Alot of people wish this did not happen but prevents poor quality and hacked maps.

I am sure if the makers of trakmaps contact Garmin, they can have it so their maps work. If you want to make sure a map works properly before purchasing feel free to contact Garmin or GPS City.

Cheers
Jordan

if you update and your maps are locked its very easy to downgrade firmware on garmin units, i had the same problem and fixed it by downgrading.
