Can this unit be loaded with topos and charts at the same time? I was told by someone that they thought it could be done by loading one to the internal memory and another onto a card that can be inserted? No experience with these units or units that accept cards so not sure how it works. Any insight appreciated!

Hello,

I assume when you say Charts you are referring to Marine mapping. You can add maps to the internal memory of the unit and use the external marine mapping cards. Marine mapping comes preloaded to a memory card so you can not add memory to it.

I am referring to Bluecharts. Would it be better to get the 450T with preloaded topos and buy Bluecharts on SD card? Would either option give more memory for saved waypoints and tracks/routes? Are the preloaded topos current as the separately purchased DVD or SD cards?

Do not buy the preloaded units. The topo maps in the 450T are older and contain less information than the DVD version. Bluecharts is no longer available on DVD. It is available on SD card only. So you can load the internal memory with topo and run bluecharts off a SD card.

what size memory card will the oregon 450 accept?
I recently purchased the Oregon 450 that came with the Canada topo cd.
Is this the most up to date topo maps available?

Hello Rockminder,

If the topo's were purchased from GPSCity then yes they are the most current. You can only load a 4Gb map so we recommend a 4G or 8Gb card for that unit.
