Hi - how does the GA 26C compare to a GA 25 antenna in terms of satellite reception? Weight and size are not important. We're after the best reception possible for a Garmin 276C used in a vehicle in heavy forest. I have tried two Gilsson High Performance BNC antennas in the 276C but they were very, disappointing, performing much worse than the standard Garmin 276C "stalk" antenna. I've also tried a marine GA 29 but it was not much good. Thank you - Tony.

Hello Tony,

All the antenna's are about the same. The information on gain is not available. On the 276C you will want to use an external antenna if you are using the unit where it can not get satellites. You would put the antenna outside where it can see the sky so you can get a position.

If you put the external antenna on and dont put it in a place where you can get better reception you will not see any difference between the antennas. The main reason is the GPS in the 276C is not very sensitive.

The GA25 is equivalent to the GA26. The GA25 replaces the GA26. The GA26 is discontinued and availability is limited.

Cheers
Jordan
