Mexico Navigation?

I just did my first trip to Baja w/my new 1490LMT. Did the update and the street road maps for Tijuana & Ensenada were pretty good. However the navigation feature doesn't work well. In particular, trying to get to border crossings. No problem locating them in the Community POIs, but the Navigation wants to send me from the Rosarito or Ensenada area 120 miles East to Mexicalli border crossing then cross over to the U.S. and back 120 miles West to the U.S. side of the San Ysidro or Otay Mesa crossings - instead of directly there. Had a similar issue w/my old 780. Does anyone know how to navigate to the Western border exits (San Ysidro, Otay Mesa, & Tecate)from inside Mexico? Dealing with the last mile of road signs trying to get to the border crossings in Mexico is the most difficult part of the trip. Also looking for a better map download for coastal access roads (dirt/high clearance) for the area.

Hello,

Check your units "Navigation" settings, see if there are any avoidance's set if so remove them and try routing to your destination again this may fix your issue.

Hope this helps!

Could the avoid traffic as a navigation feature be the problem? Since it did take 3+ hours to cross the border - that could be what re-routed.

Hello,

Yes that could be the issue if the unit is constantly trying to re-route you around congested border crossings.

Cheers
