I recently purchased the above GPS and I have encountered a problem when entering a location by voice. Everything enters well until the GPS askes if I want to navigate to the location then the screen goes blank and the GPS restarts. I have tried numerous times to get the GPS to work via voice command without success.

Hello Dane,

Have you tried a recent firmware update. Please give that a try to see if it is fixed by that process. You will need to download Garmin Webupdater for free from Garmins website. If the update does not work please contact Garmin to let them know the issue you are having. If your unit is still under the retailers warranty and Garmin deems it defective contact the retailer for replacement.

www.garmin.com -> Support -> Software -> Webupdater

Cheers

I had a 3790 with the exact same problem... it was one particular route (or some part of the route) that caused the unit to crash. They were slow on the initial software updates, and I ended up returning the unit. I think now that we're in the era of online updates, there is a lot less quality control on what is released... since they know they can fix it later.

Don't fool yourself either... the same software runs on almost all Garmin units... just different tweaks to create different 'models' (which all use the same hardware as well). Update... and if it doesn't work - return it...

When in pedestrian mode, the tracking path only briefly appears on the screen from time to time. If you turn the GPS simulator on then there isn't a problem but it only shows up from time to time when the simulator is off. For some reason the path requires about 1.5 seconds to redraw and the screen is refreshing constantly when you're not using the simulator, so you rarely ever see the path, and when you do, it's not on long enough to do you any good.

I have brought this to Garmin's attention and after numerous emails back and forth, they told me that my GPS requires repair. This is obviously a firmware problem and not hardware, seeing as the tracking path is always visible when in automotive mode.

Has anyone else experienced this same problem?

I just gave our demo unit a quick test and we can not reproduce the same problem you are seeing. Garmin may want you to send it in not because of hardware but also it may be software that an update wont fix.

I would try a reset also to make sure that it is not a setting.
Tools -> Settings -> then hit the three bars at the top left. Select restore.

One more thing - Are you using Garmin maps or a third party?

I did a reset and it didn't make any difference. I'm only using the Garmin maps that came on the GPS.

Garmin also asked me to do a software update and I was already running the latest version, but I installed it again anyway still no change.

I would suggest doing what Garmin recommended and sending the unit in for repair.

I have the same problem with my 2360 turning off for no reason. I have the latest software & firmware updates. I updated the maps right out of the box at the same time I registered the device. I noticed the lifetime map updates are third a party. I wouldn't think that would have anything to do with it. I've read other reviews with the same issue. Don't know how long I can put up with it before returning. Hoping it's a software/firmware update but none so far.

Just like mentioned above, make sure that you are up to date. If you have technical problems like this you should also notify Garmin. If you just got the nuvi 2360 I would return it of it is within the stores return policy you purchased it from. It is now a discontinued item.
