hi can u tell me if this would work with a autometer gps speedo head and also if it is compatable with mercury smartcraft thanks errol

Hello errol,

Just did an internet search and there are too many autometer gps speedo to know which one you have. Can you let us know what the GPS specs you need are? NMEA0183 or NMEA2000? or can you provide a link to the manual of the specific speedo you have.

hi calgary the guage is a Auto Meter Pro-Comp Marine Ultra Lite Silver
140 MPH GPS Speedometer 3 3/8" slso not sure on nmea for smartcraft the smartcraft is for a 2004 year optimax outboard im not sure if this helps as in what year did these nmea outputs come out thanks errol

Hi Errol,

I contacted the manufacturer for you. I am waiting for word back. NMEA is a standard that has been around for a very long time. I would assume that you need a GPS with RS232 and NMEA 0183 out but it would be nice to know for sure.

The 16 HVS will work fine with your Auto Meter Pro-Comp Marine Ultra Lite Silver 140 MPH GPS Speedometer 3 3/8".

Hello errol,

Sorry but I could not find that information when I was researching the product for you. Most likely there will be three wires. One black for GND and one RED for PWR and the other can be assumed to be the data wire. Please contact Auto Meter for assistance wiring. Here is a link to the Garmin manual for that side of the hookup.
