I am going to be boating in Lake Ontario around Kingston. I am not sure if the 620 vs 640 is better for me? I like the touch screen and auto routing / guiding features. I think I require the Blue Chart g2 Vision SD card for this capability? Does it come with a power for mounting on a boat?or does either have a lighter adapter?

Does the 620 / 640 come with a power wire for mounting on a boat or inline fuse

Hello Robert,

Both packages come with a boat mount with bare wire cable. The big difference is the GPSMap 640 is preloaded with Canadian and USA street maps and USA ocean charts. You will need vision maps for marine auto-guidance or plain bluecharts G2 for general navigation.

Cheers

The benefit would be that all the street maps for Canada and the US are preloaded, so for your driving and boating needs this unit has both marine and vehicle modes.
As for the inland lakes maps, the detail is being updated often, so perhaps in the next revision the area you're interested in will have more information.
