From what I've read I think this is a transducer for my garmin 440 chartplotter that mounts inside my hull and reads through the hull without making a hole in the hull. I just don't know how it mounts to the hull or where on the hull it is mounted. hope you can help. Calabashman

Howdy Calabashman,

Installing this transducer takes some thought and time but it is easy. You need to mount it in a location that it will have no obstructions in the fiberglass such as supports. You will want to contact your boat dealer or manufacturer for a recommended location.

Make sure the location is smooth. The sensor can adjust to a 22 degree deadrise angle. You may need to grind some fiberglass to get it to work properly (sit flush). Before permanently installing you are going to want to test the location.

When putting it in the location permanently you will need to use an epoxy sealant. You need to coat both the transducer and the hull with a thin layer. Then you will want to wiggle them together to force any air bubbles out. Air bubbles will reduce performance. Put a clean weighted object on the transducer until the epoxy sealant has cured.

There are some videos on youtube to give you examples of the process.

Cheers
