the navionics sd card that came with my elite 5 gold will not upload onto my elite 5. The display box says "card error, unrecognized card format" and i have to exit out of it and have had no luck uploading the card. Any ideas on how to upload the sd card to my elite 5? I really don"t want to have to remove it to return to the dealer.

You cant upload the maps to the unit. The map data must stay on the Original card. Please contact Lowrance before sending the card back. they are the only ones that can deem the part defective or not.

Once the card is in the unit you need to go into the Chart setup menu and enable the map for your area. The Unit unfortunately does not switch over to the most detailed map automatically.

What happens? do you see any map detail change? if you zoom in and out does anything happen. Are you using the proper map in the plotter?

Hi,

Im having issues with my new navionics gold card and my lowrance elite 5.

I downloaded all the charts, put the card in, then when I go to charts on the unit (rather than lowrance), and scroll down to my area (California and Oregon), I get the worst, most pathetic, blocky, un detailed shoreline definition imaginable. The islands Im looking at are literally just boxy polygons, with absolutely no real definition, not a single curve anywhere. And the marine reserves I bought the card to see are not even there. Umm hello!!??? this card was almost half the purchase price of the unit, are you joking?

The maps come preloaded on a memory card and there is no download needed with a new product. Do you mean you just did an update? Did the update complete successfully? Have you turned on the maps in the GPS? If it is an update issue you should contact Lowrance or Navionics directly.

There are two cards, one for the USA and one for Canada. Did you check to see if the maps show any detail along the Canadian coast? Maybe you have the incorrect card.

Here is a video to watch to see if you have the right charts enabled.

Mine was doing the same thing until I realized I was looking at a lake outside the coverage map for the chip I was using. Try zooming all the way out and make sure you are within the coverage area before you zoom in on a lake.
