Finish is a little rough. Rubber is molded over base. Works like it's supposed to.

NO FLATS NEEDED
Pros: works well
Cons: tool marks on the stem
You dont need to file flats or use pliers! Clamp the arm on the threaded ball with the mount ball or a piece of wood in the other end of the arm. Then use the arm as a wrench to tighten. Use purple loc-tite or even household glue if you think you need it.

GOOD BALLS
Excellent quality, compact, light, durable. Since my application did not involve screwing it into a mirror post, I would have liked the threaded section to be a little longer. Another 1/4in would have been perfect!

GREAT 3/8-16 B SIZE BALL
This was a perfect find. I'm using this on one end and the 1/4-20 camera mount on the other end for camera gear on a video rig. Great product.

BALL MOUNT
Fits my heli bars mount on my FJR1300. Works as intended but needs a hex bottom so you can use a wrench to install it and remove it.

RAM MOUNT 3/8-16 THREADED 1" BALL
Works great on my Heli Triple Clamp on FJR1300 . Compact , out of way when extension in not needed.I used it for my GPS. -Only down side was tightenibg it,no hex flange below ball,I had to use pump pliers,then wipe off rubber. Quick delivery , all went well, Thanks

NEED FLAT SURFACES TO TIGHTEN
The 1" ball with 3/8-16 Male thread filled my requirements for use with a Powerlet Plus mount.However it lacks a flat surface beneath the ball that would accommodate a open end wrench to tighten.
