UNIVERSAL MOUNT
Pros: solid mount no shakes or movement Cons: should come assembled
needed modification to put together--needed to grind aluminum so two pieces would go together other than that good product holds Iridium Satellite phone firmly over off road conditions

RAM UNIVERSAL CLAMP
At last a way to mount my police scanner, and have a way to quickly release it and take it with me. Works like a charm.

NOT A GOOD FIT FOR VIO POV SYSTEMS.
Cons: heavy, large.
Universal is sometimes synonymous with "jack of all trades, specialist at nothing." The universal cradle is an option for when you find no other suitable RAM mount, but the cradle's weight and large size makes it clumsy. More so, it is important that whatever you place in it makes a solid fit. The VIO P.O.V. video recorder has a curved backside. This produces minimal grip at best, and if you use the 12v direct-wire kit, you can't use this cradle at all because of how the pigtail emerges from the recorder. I found this cradle clumsy to use on a motorcycle, and it's weight means the longer the RAM arm, the better a chance of it moving with every jostle...no matter how much you tighten it down.

HEAVY DUTY MOUNT
Pros: heavy duty construction, easy to use Cons: a bit large for the phones.
I purchased these mounts to mount in fire trucks. My idea was to make them "Firefighter" proof. I mounted them in conjunction with RAM ball swivel mounts. They are a bit big for the phones we have but I glued foam in the cradles to take up the clearance. Overall, I am getting good feedback.

WHAT A CLAMP!
Used this to hold my Police Scanner. Works like a champ! Just completed a trip to the Yukon on the Harley. Clamped a SPOT Satellite Tracker into the mount. Worked fine on a bumpy gravel road over 200 miles long.

EXCELLENT SERVICE ON POLICE MOTORCYCLE
I have used this mount on a Kawasaki Police 1000 motorcycle for nearly two years to hold a Radio Shack Pro96 Scanner. The quick release is an especially well designed system. The mount has held the scanner securely while pressed closed and releases easily for removal of the scanner radio. Due to the double rubber 1" balls, the system has protected the scanner from much of the vibration produced by the motorcycle. The system continues to function well and I am ordering another one to replace a less convenient mount in my personal vehicle.
