AQUA BOX FOR HTC THUNDERBOLT
Pros: appears to be water resistant Cons: can't use power cord with htc thunderbolt.
Even though RAM states the Aqua Box 2 Medium is for the HTC Thunderbolt, you will not be able to use your power cord when using the box. Due to the incredibly poor battery life of the Thunderbolt, you need to be able to provide external power, making this mount only good for very short trips. Even if you could plug it in, you would have to remove the back ball mount every time you wanted to take the power cord out or you would have to have a dedicated power cord for this box. You also need to use almost every pad that comes with the Aqua Box to have the phone up against the clear cover.

WORKS GREAT EVEN FOR IPHONE
Pros: mostly waterproof Cons: weep holes in middle of cover
I Use this for the iPhone 4s and it just barely fits with the charger. I actually have a small 12v heater inside the enclosure which keeps the phone warm while on the snow machine.
The only thing they should change is the location of the 3 moisture holes, they are in the middle of the screen and kinda block the view a little.
You can still use the touch screen through the thick rubber cover it's just slow and difficult.

WORKS FINE FOR IPHONE 4S
Pros: water proof, secure Cons: takes a few minutes to set up
I dont understand the reviews stating this doesnt work with the iPhone 4. I have mine mounted and it works fine. There is a thick soft rubber cover that makes your touch screen react a bit slower, but I can use the touch screen just fine. For me this worked better than expected for a waterproof rugged mount.
I purchased this mount for my iPhone to use as a GPS on a snowmachine, so even added an electric hand warmer inside the case between two of the layers of foam. This is to keep the phone slightly warm when its -30F. It was tricky routing the power cable for the phone and heater and getting the cables and adhesive backed foam in place, but it worked out great.
The flexible screen is tricky to get set in place. Watch the video, it has a lip on the outside that has to be pushed over a small ridge on the plastic case.
The case will come with 3 different pieces of foam, so you can get the proper depth to push your phone or gps against the screen. My iPhone took the largest + the thinnest piece for a good fit. I ordered extra foam but it was not needed.
Also the guy talking about the aluminum hardware being prone to oxidation, he probably doesnt know what hes talking about. All forms of aluminum, even cast aluminum have high resistance to oxidation or rust. The alumin hardware is also coated with plastic for better grip and smoother feel, really its a great product and system.
My only complaint would be the 3 small moisture holes that are placed in the middle of the screen. I think these should be left out, or at least positioned around the outside, not in the middle. Plus this case will have an air gap around any cables in the bottom, so I dont see the purpose of those holes.

SEASLS GOOD
Pros: sturdy. rugged. water proof Cons: my phone
Seems to hold up pretty well to water. Only problem is I use my droid and it doesn't get any air flow in the box and overheats fast. Also the hard case touch screen is hard to use with gloves on.

CANT SEE THROUGH CLEAR PLASTIC VERY WELL
Pros: holds well and is water resistant Cons: clear membrane is terrible at glare conditions
If you are looking to protect your GPS from the weather this unit will most likely work but the glare off the clear plastic front cover was terrible. I would not recommend this at this point. There has to be a better clear plastic lense than the one they shipped. It has 3 mold dimples in the middle of the view and its so shiny that any light glares off of it. At night or deep shade it works fine. But any sunlight makes for hazardous reading. Forget quick glances.

WELL CONSTRUCTED BOX, CHEESY FLEX SCREEN
Pros: case is well constructed, and durable Cons: screen is wavey, and reflects too much sunlight
Screen & Usability: For motorcycle purposes, the flex screen that comes with the box has 3 nipples (mfg marking) along the center line display surface fof the "clear" screen. I did purchase extra flex screen, and that too had the same issue. The whole screen itself is wavey, and not taunt, which is bad for reflection on a sunny day. Finding the right angle to lock it in is next to impossible on my standard bike. This may work if you have a very shaddy and visible area behind a larger screen. Or maybe a large sun visor might help as well. I have a Satio phone, and its touch function works no problem (That's because it's a resistive display) even with my gloves on. Capacitive display won't work with this case (most new high end smart phones are now capacitive).
The hard case in itself it very well constructed, and the Aqua box kit comes with 3 sheets of padding, more than enough to help adjust to your device's thiness. The screw point has not waterproofing, and this setup does not come with rubber groument, so supply your own to lock out water at high speed.
Hardware: I also bought the 1" ball mounting hardware, and noticed they are all made of metal, and very solid. The only concern I have is the type of metal they use. These will last 10 years average, and start to pit and oxidize, as they seem to be made from white metal. But that's left to time to test. It's an acceptable balance between cost, strength, and durability.

RAM MOUNT AQUA BOX 2 MEDIUM CRADLE
Pros: very weather proof Cons: not overly attractive
I purchased this unit to house my satellite radio. A few friends and I recently went on a 10 day tour through British Columbia where it rained almost every day and sometimes hard. The box never let a drop of water in.

USELESS
Pros: good construction Cons: electronics inoperable through box
The build of this and all ram mount products is dependable and sturdy. However, neither my Thunderboly HTC or my friend Iphone would work through the 'touch screen' The silicon appears to be too thick and will most likely only work w/ devices that are purely touch and not heat sensitive control.
Although I didn't try it w/ water it seems like it would keep things waterproof.

WONDERFUL DUST AND WATER PROTECTION
Pros: heavy duty protection. very versatile size-size Cons: lack of instructions, didn't know came with 3 pads
Got my Aqua Box yesterday. I know several Goldwing riders on a forum who swear by them and now I know why.
Not knowing from the description that it comes with 3 pads (.5" and it looks like 3/8" and 1/4"), I ordered it with a spare pad. Ok, now I have a spare.
By adding pads, I've tested this with my HTC EVO which is a PERFECT fit with the standard .5" pad, as well as my iPod Touch and iPod Video 80GB by using the extra pads.
Contrary to Shawn's review, it works just fine with the iPod Touch. You CAN use the touch screen through the lens if you add one of the extra pads. It works with NO problems. There might be some issue with heat if you're charging however, perhaps that's why gpscity as the disclaimer that it doesn't work well with the iPod Touch or iPhone.
My primary use for this box is my HTC EVO. With the wiring and electronics I'm ordering from Cellset, my Android phone will add GPS Nav with audio, Streaming Internet Music, MP3 playback and of course phone calls through my bike's sound system to my helmet. And it'll do it all for a lot less than a dedicated Garmin Zumo, even the cheapest model. The box and mounts I've purchased from GPSCity will conveniently place the unit, let me operate it and keep it all protected.

SOLID, WATERPROOF, HIGH-QUALITY
Pros: excellent quality. seems very watertight. Cons: be careful about the sizing - don't be too tight!
I was pleasantly surprised at the build and quality of this box. I have yet to ride in a serious downpour, but have gone through some rain showers and it seems to be very watertight. My only gripe is the sizing of the box. I carefully measured my Garmin and found it to be VERY close to the published "width" of this box (I mounted it horizontally). The box was spec'd at 2.88", and my garmin is 2 7/8, or 2.875". I knew I was pushing my luck, but was hoping this would work the next size box simply won't fit anywhere on my bike.... Long story short: without the plastic window installed, I can just barely force the door closed with my GPS inside - but the rubber material on the window eats into the interior space by about 1/8" top and bottom, so I'm out of luck. Probably not a legit complaint in itself, because I knew it was a gamble - but hopefully I can stop others from making the same mistake I did. Anyway: I used the box for my Sirius Sportster radio instead (which I use a LOT more than a GPS anyway) - and it fits/works perfectly. The cradle for the radio is a little too thick once you plug the cables into the back, but I was able to shave a bit of material off the connectors and make it work. So I'm very happy with my purchase and am getting a lot of use out of it.

GOOD ENCLOSURE
Pros: easy to mount, wire and operate Cons: not big enough, heats up unit inside
Set up this unit for my iPhone. Running wires was easy. Not enough room when power plug and earphone plug is in. I also noticed that the iPhone heats up pretty good if in direct sun.

GOOD PRODUCT BUT NO USE FOR ME.
Pros: well made Cons: too big or too small.
OK, my story is I bought a bigger box to use Garmin Nuvi on my bike. It was way too huge. Even huge is not enough to describe that box. I returned it bought this one, smaller one, that happened to be smaller than my Garmin. Yes, it is positioned for iPods but its way too big for iPods. I compared it with my Touch. I think RAM should redesign their Aqua Boxes, cause I ended up returning the second box ordered. RAM makes absolutely great mounts but their Aqua Boxes either too big or too small.

BEST WATER PROOF BOX FOR I-TOUCH & I-PHONE
Pros: it keeps your investments safe and dry!!! Cons: there is none
I bought the aqua box for my i-touch years ago and I have to say it works perfect. I installed it on my harley and have traveled through very heavey rain. I have traveled to sturgis s. d and have been in the most heaviest down pours with hail and had no problems keeping my i-touch dry not to mention safe. I realy like the fact that you can lock the box with a small pad lock to keep it from falling out not that it would or from walking away if you know what I meen. well now I had to buy the aqua box-2 because I now have the i-phone and it is a bit bigger then the i-touch and I feel confident that it will keep my four hundred dollar investment dry and safe. you cant find a better water proof box out there for bikes, boats, or for any out door use!!! ram-aqua-box, protect your investment!!!

WATERPROOF MOUNT
I purchased this mount for my IPOD. I had to drill a hole in the top of the mount between the closure in order to run the wire for my pod. This was done because I use a remote attached to the bottom of my pod so far it works very well but I have not ridden yet in a down por but I am presuming it will work just fine

DECENT SPLASHBOX
Pros: sturdy, simple design Cons: bulky, make sure you have space for it!
The Aqua Box 2 was a pretty good solution for waterproofing my IPod. The scroll wheel is not use-able through the rubber cover but the buttons work, so I can at least pause and play while on motorcycle. Rugged construction, fairly lightweight. Be ready to do some cutting/drilling on the back to get your cords through.

AQUA BOX
Pros: seems water and dust resistant so far Cons: wiring entry doesn't allow for mounts
Great idea for your ipod, seems to be dust and water resistant so far - Biggest downfall to me is I misread the description or didn't understand - there is a circle you can "punch out" to allow the wires into the cradle HOWEVER you then can NOT use a mount to hold it - the diamond mounts COVER the punched hole - I had to drill holes in order to connect the wiring inside.

FITS THE BILL!
Had this unit on my Harley now for 2 years! In the Pacific Northwest! Holds the large iPod + Power cable + Line out cable on a 90 degree bend adapter. Yes, there are holes drilled in the back for the wires.....but the included foam backings act as a good buffer. Takes a horrendous downpour to see any fog on inside of lens.....just wipe out...no big deal. I don't recommend opening up the unit going down the highway :) Company was quick sending me a replacement lens....at a fair price! You can't beat this company for Customer care!

Good sturdy case although it could do with a baseplate to cover over the holes that have been punched through the back for the wires and fixing screws. I also purchased the RAM Mount Plastic Diamond Plate on 6'' Flex Arm with 3.25'' Locking Suction Cup and as this has a diamond head only partly covers the holes therefore not really being waterproof...more like water resistant. The flexi lens works well in that it seals and keeps the dust and water from penetrating the front but again is flawed by the fact that it has 3 blobs probably after seperating from cast which obscures the pda lense which is a small yet important concern especially to those who wish to have a clear view.If this is an one-off error then more should be done in packaging control especially if going overseas. Also a some kind of instruction maunual would be good. Otherwise a great way of protecting your Ipod or PDA.
