SURPRISINGLY STRONG!
Pros: light weight, sturdy, cheaper than metal.
Cons: none at all
I have been using the aluminum mounts for years in my kayaks, but have finaly gotten on the make everything as light as possible kick. I decided to finaly give the plastic mounts a try. Well they won't bend under pressure just like the aluminum versions, yet are half the weight. I'm hooked!

Pros: works well
Cons: additional expense for more than one adapter
This is a must-have if you're using multiple adapters since removing and re-installing one between adapters is too tedious. Get one for each adapter -- you won't be sorry.

Pros: easy of use
Cons: i can't find any.
I needed this item to go with my Oregon cradle so I can move my gps from my car to my mountain bike to my kayak in just a minute or two. A perfict match to other ram products I already have.

BALL MOUNT

Cons: does not work with my nuvi 660
Bought this for my Nuvi 660, does not fit the hole on the mount that came with the Nuvi 660. I purchased another mount for the Nuvi, shipping charges again, the new mount does not accept this ball mount. I ended up fabricating a bracket for the new mount and am not using this ball mount. The ball is 1" and so far I have no use for this product. This came up as an accessory for my unit, and with the second purchase, I still can not use it.

PLASTIC MOUNT BASE
Pros: the pastic is unaffected by the weather.
Cons: a bit of a molding rideg on the ball
This product is excellent for all types of weather. The rubber surface grips the arm very securely and does not allow vibrational movement. I used two of this product with the 1.75" arm and the eTrex cradle to mount my GPS on my scooter. Since there is no handlebar visible (there are plastic panels covering it) I was unable to use a traditional motorcycle or bicycle mount. One of the bases was attached to the mounting arm of my wind-screen (using a couple of clips from an old wind-screen) the other was attached to the GPS cradle with the arm betwwen the bases.
The whole thing is very secure and doesn't move even with engine & road vibrations. I have it positioned on the left mounting arm & a quick glance down at my instruments also takes in the GPS.
My only complaint (very minor) is a limited adjustment range when the assembled unit is at an extreme postion.
