GREAT, LOW COST SOLUTION.
Pros: high quality, sturdy, easy install, fair price Cons: set screws need to be retightend after positioning
I bought this for a recent 1700 mile trip. Install could not have been simpler for my 2008 Escape. Pulled the right front floor bolt out of my seat, put the mount in place and replaced the floor bolt. Once it was bolted in place, I bent the support rod into position. Because of the relatively soft nature of the support rod (probably solid aluminum), the two set screws that hold the rod in the floor mount needed to be retightened after positioning the rod. Worried that this might happen again, I just inserted a thin gauge shim of sheet metal around the base of the rod for the set screws to bite into. It's still as snug after 1700 miles. The GPS mount itself is great. Plenty of room to plug in power, USB and external antenna. No fear of the cradle cracking from repeated insertion and removal of the GPS, high quality construction. Same goes for the clamp that holds the cradle to the support rod. Once the clamp is tightened, the GPS cradle will NOT slip out of position. I would certainly consider other RAM mounts after this purchase.
