SECURE GPS MOUNT FOR BICYCLE

Pros: secure, easy to mount, easy to position
Cons: none

I bought this to mount on my Surly LHT touring bike and actually used a piece of old bike inner tube under the RAM mount, instead of the supplied sticky material, because I wanted to be sure of the location.

Took it on a 140 mile weekend ride, lots of rough roads, and the mount performed well, no complaints. I looped the lanyard on the Garmin 62S over my handle bar, in case the mount let loose, but no worries.

It was easy to access all the buttons while riding, and I didn't hear any rattling from the unit.

62ST MOUNT

Cons: will not work with lanyard back

Got a new gps, had to get a mount for the bike, this one worked out very well, easy to install, and works great, will not work with the lanyard back on the gps.

SO FAR SO GOOD

My handle bars don't have many flat spots in the right direction to see it but I found one and it holds tight. Haven't done any dirt trail rides yet but it hasn't budges on roads and paved trails. It would be nice if it was reloacatable easier (ie - reuseable ties) - my wife likes to take the GPS too but the mount is on my bike.

TALL & NOISY MOUNT

Pros: secure
Cons: noisey, tall

It holds the GPS securely. A bit difficult to get to the bottom 2 keys on the GPS, but manageable. Sits up above the handlebar a but high. As I'm riding down a hill I can hear the GPS holder creaking and making noise over the sound of the tires and rocks. It's not objectionable, just noisy. Note to RAM: Perhaps a stronger spring would quiet it down and lesson the vibration.

GPS BICYCLE MOUNT

Excellent, overall. I would like to have had some spare zip ties to reattach the unit to my bicycle handlebars. It would be even nicer if they were reusable ties. It would therefore be easier to reposition or reattach the unit if necessary

MUCH BETTER THAN STOCK GARMIN MOUNT

Pros: very secure mount for mountain bike riding
Cons: how will it hold up in a crash???

I originally purchased the stock Garmin mount to go along with my GPSMAP 62s. Most of my bike riding is on bumpy dirt roads and I was always concerned the GPS unit, with that flimsy mount system, would go flying off at any time. The RAM Mount is much more secure, with a tray and positive locking system to keep the GPS unit in place. I don't hesitate to ride anywhere with this mount, knowing the receiver is going to stay right where I put it. I've read a couple of reviews where people have concerns with the cable tie straps. There's a stick-on rubber strip that comes with the mount, you put the strip on your handlebars and the mounting socket with cable ties goes on top of that and if you pull the cable ties tightly with pliers, the mount is very secure. I've also read some concerns that the latching system interferes with the bottom two buttons on the GPS unit but I find they're still very accessible and I don't see a problem. Right now, my only concern is how the tray will hold up in a crash but I'll have to wait and see with that one.

BELOW AVERAGE GPS MOUNT

Pros: good cradles.
Cons: unable to properly secure it to the handle bars.

The cradle design is excellent and for that reason I gave it a rating of two. Zip ties cannot be cannot be tightened enough to prevent the mount from rotating downward to the point of making the screen unviewable. I used a bicycle cable puller to attempt pull the zip ties to prevent this, but the mount still rotated downward, it just took a little longer. GPS mounts for the eTrex Vista and CSx 60 used a screw compression and once tightened never rotated downward. These mounts cost over twice as much, BUT when I spend over $500.00 (plus the Garming maps) for a GPS what is another $25.00 or $30.00 for a decent mount so I can use it on my bicycle.

FITS PERFECTLY TO THE BIKE HANDLEBARS BUT.....

Pros: great fit
Cons: needs better instruction sheet

Assembly instructions are lacking in description and detail but you'll figure out how to do it on your own. You'll also need to remove the belt clip from the GPS.

VERY LARGE FOR BICYCLE

Cons: large for bicycle, cannot fasten tightly to bars

It is a nicely built mount, but it seems to be too big for a bicycle. Also, the zip tie mounting to the handlebar cannot be tightened enough to prevent the mount from rotating. Would probably recommend this for a motorbike.
